Truly God Devotional 9

Truly God Devotional 9

It must have been frustrating for Jesus that the religious leaders of His time didn't believe that He was the Messiah. The Bible prophesied His coming in detail in the Old Testament, He healed the sickly, and brought some back to life, yet their unwillingness to see the truth was probably louder to Him than their words.

John 8:54-56

"If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know Him, I know Him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word. Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."

Jesus clarifies again that He is not working for His own personal glory, but for His Father in Heaven. The Old Testament should have made it clear to the Jewish leaders that Jesus was the Messiah, but He wasn't the type of king they were looking for. They wanted a warrior king who would battle the Romans and all the enemies of Israel. Of course, Jesus won the ultimate battle....the battle for the souls of men!

Jesus doesn't call them liars in a fit of anger, but in the spirit of truth. His words sound harsh, but when we remember who He was dealing with, and how much He loved them, we understand His reasoning. He had a job to do and He did it perfectly. Jesus is God glorified! The anointed ONE! The God in three parts working with perfect, singular intent.

First Responders Christmas 2016

Not only do we make Ouch Pouches, but we also deliver them! We deliver them to the most amazing people who serve our community by risking life and limb to keep us all safe. They were so happy to see us and were so excited to have the pouches to utilize on the job. The final count was around 240 pouches in all so that is 240 children who will be comforted by this amazing ministry. Our cookie selling is a major part of our financial support so this coming week we will be baking on Friday in order to get fresh homemade cookies into your hands days before Christmas! So contact us by phone, text or internet.

Truly God Devotional 8

Sometimes when I'm driving I can't seem to get my visor to block out the brightness of the sun. There's almost always a small gap that it can penetrate and blind me. Jesus is this kind of light. Let's look at what Jesus Himself says about being light.

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

You can't run and you can't hide because you can't avoid His presence. Even the lost feel His presence. Common grace given to everyone by God leads the lost. A lack of personal fulfillment and spiritual emptiness may both lead the lost to seek and find the truth. All human beings are born with the need for Jesus. Jesus is the only REAL God, the only REAL Savior, and the only REAL friend. He is the rock on which humanity rests. A life without Him is NO life at all!

Jesus says to follow Him and we will never walk in darkness, but light. Following Christ has always been an act of rebellion against organized religion and society as a whole. This is what we see happening in the life of Christ and what we experience in our own life. Jesus knew that living in the truth could make the darkness in others erupt. He reassures us that the light of life will be with us in ALL circumstances. The darkness will NEVER extinguish the light....in the world.....or within us. We have an eternal flame living within us people and it is burning for Christ. Now that is a wonderful comfort to us all.

Truly God Devotional 7

Only God knows what's in a person's heart. So true. As Christians we pray that our hearts are full of God's love for others and for ourselves. Jesus was the precursor to the Holy Spirit living in our individual hearts. Let's learn more about this in John 7:38-39.

"Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this Jesus meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him, were later to fully receive. Up to that time the spirit had not yet been fully given to believers since Jesus had not yet been glorified. However, the Holy Spirit was in the world since we read in Genesis 1:2 that it was "hovering over the face of the waters." In Genesis 6:3 "my spirit shall not abide in man forever." In Genesis 41:38 "can we find a man like this in whom is the spirit of God? Exodus 31:3 "and I have filled him with the spirit of God." Numbers 11:25 "the Lord came down in a cloud and spoke to him, and took some of the spirit."

Jesus is re-establishing what will happen once the spirit fully enters into the hearts of believers. Out of this person's heart will flow blessings and living water meant to shower lost, thirsty souls and all those who come into contact with the believer. Jesus is the precursor to the fully-given and all-powerful Holy Spirit. Jesus is the securer. The deliverer. He is the sacrificial lamb whose blood payment allowed God to enter our hearts and live there in Holy Spirit form. God's Holy Spirit leads thirsty souls to Jesus! Isn't that miraculous? Yes, it is!
